Many people ask me - why are you an amateur radio operator? When they ask, I have a list of reasons, but the most important reason of all is that being an amateur lets me help my community. Amateur radio operators volunteer their time to their communities whenever needed. The most publically seen is when amateurs help set up communications in a disaster, but you can see hams out helping the community almos every day at races, ralleys, and other special events. The community relys on amateur radio operators to keep informed so their evnet runs smoothly.
